Sometime prior to 1990, Georgetown Day School purchased a "Grasshopper" sculpture from Max from one of the GDS summer art shows. An image of this sculpture went on to become the school logo, and the school later commissioned him to make a large "Grasshopper Weathervane" and install it on the top of the GDS Library building. A school-boy prank resulted in the theft and damage of this weathervane, and although the sculpture was eventually returned, and was repaired by Max K., it was decided by the school that it was too tempting a target to be reinstalled on the roof, so it was moved to the reception hall of the school. In all, GDS ended up owning 3 of Max K's Grasshopper sculptures.
